Are headlights sorted? Think the beam pattern is pretty much flat so you might get away with it, but you can't use beam correctors for registration/MOT so if they refuse to accept then that might be your biggest expense.

Not sure what LHD bi-xenons would be worth to sell on to the USA or mainland Europe?

Indeed there is. Just had a look.
Not sure if not having the reflector would cause an MOT fail though....

In the short term you should be able to just just unclip the bulbholder and move it to the other side after removing the blanking plate.

Edit: Having looked again at mine I'm going to try feeding strips of adhesive aluminium foil tape in through the bulbholder socket and pressing them down with my fingers to make a better reflector. Only £1.38 delivered on eBay for 3 meters of 50mm tape which I'll cut into suitable segments. Worth a try as dismantling doesn't look easy.

if they were normal xenons rather than bi-xenons then you would be able to switch them either way on the levers which keeps it flexible for both UK and abroad. I think Ranj had a set for sale

It failed the MOT on headlights and on right rear fog light.
It has xenons. I dont think it has levers, I thought only non-xenon have levers.
My RHD S8 has xenons too and there are no levers, it has to be adapted.
I'm booked in to the local Audi dealer they say they will code it for £39.
I was going to do it myself, but could only find instructions for A4. You have to go to 55-Xenons, then channel 10 and set it to 0 or 1 (opposite to what it currently is) but this will keep triggering an error, so you have to adapt channel 09 to 1 as well, then it will accept the new headlight alignment.
On D2 though there is no adaptation channel 10. There are a couple of channels with 0's and 1's in them, so it could be these, but without knowing for sure I dont want to mess anything up.

My PF S8 had normal Xenons and to change from RHD to LHD was literally just flip a lever each side. Takes about 1 minute on the ferry while waiting to disembark.

I'd also like to know exactly what's required to switch between RHD and LHD with bi-xenons.
(Edit: my drivers manual says I need to visit Audi before driving "on the other side" - do they mean getting into a BMW? )

See, I wasnt making it up. FL normal xenons have no lever.

If you have bi-xenons you're in luck according to Elsa:

Servicing headlights
Converting headlights for LH or RH traffic
When driving in countries where traffic drives on the side opposite that of the homeland of the vehicle, both headlights must be adjusted so that the asymmetrical dipped beam does not impair other motorists' vision.

Note:

Bi-xenon headlights do not need to be converted.

I have noticed that the dipped beam has a flat top on my bi-xenons, though it does appear to have a step so that the right side is lower than the left.

Goran, if cluster is in good condition I would buy used UK cluster and will swap just speedo fascia. I'd do it myself. You can then code it ftom km to miles and from German to English without any problem via vagcom.

Hi Sergei. Thats what I want to do if I can rather than pay for re-code.
Can the speedo dial really be removed?
I dont mind km on the odometer or the German, just need miles on the speedo so DVLA will register it.

Hi Goran,

I'm sure it can be removed. Some evidence here:

http://www.impconcepts.com/vwpassatb...ugeforsale.htm

http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthrea...in-the-cluster

http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...l-Color-Change

l'm just curious, but why would you want to stay with km? Re-coding back and forth from km to miles and miles to km is not a problem and is standard supported feature of the cluster. Same applies to language.
