Just to add rgds that horror story with engine out....I belive audi call that procedure too drastic. For power steering pump mech says its more likely to drop the subframe down to get better access not an engine out but we may be wrong. Being under the car all components are clearly accessible I guess it is all about how clever you are with the wrench. Remember we call audi technicians - part replecers, they follow what the screen teels them.
Message from me .... don't be afraid of an S8 its not that bad. Human put it together not an allien so it can be fixed too
Having a forum like this handy with all advise helps a lot
We need to bann creating horror stories with massive bills attached to it....lets find solution and lets enjoy our 8's
