that looks good, what part is that ? the strip between bumper and body ?

current:
- newbie to audis, 2001 s8 purchased aug 2018, changes have begun... centre box delete and straight through pipes.

- e9 csl 1972, fully restored, silly bits to finish

- 2002tii 1972, 'bought by accident' and work in progress

- toyota hiace camper, just repainted in gulf racing colours and now getting used

- honda c90 custom cub, ' bought by accident'....there seems to be a them here..!

(Not so) Recently departed:

- very sadly sold to fund the e9....BMW e28 m535 white 1986, owned 12 years, I loved that car.
- red mk1 vw golf gti, fully sorted: resprayed, flash red, mk2 1800 16v conversion, uprated brakes, shocks, leather interior,
- 1986 Saab 900 turbo convertible sold to get Audi on 'one out, one in' rule imposed by missus...not really adhering to the rule at the moment as can be seen..!

Sorry for resurrecting this thread. I think this looks very cool. I've always thought the fancy aluminum trunk hinges from the Phaeton would look right at home in the S8 D2. Those hinges, plus these would just look AWESOME.

I remember looking at a Phaeton years ago at the same time I was checking out an A8 and the struts do look nice. Almost a shame to hide them.

Yeah, look at those things. They fit the aluminum body just perfect. Eventually I want to try to fit those into one of mine.

Using some lying-around alloy wheel silver paint I also now have lovely silvery boot and bonnet struts too.

Bonnet struts are the originals, boot struts are SGS jobs from a few years ago which went rusty pretty quickly, I'm afraid to say. Plenty of oomph left in both though.














Really glad I did this as the rusty struts were negating any effort put into cleaning the engine bay in particular.

2000 FL A8 3.7 QS - Turned 21 years old on 15th March 2021. Ming Blue - 175k miles. I love having a 90's car worthy of 90L of 98 RON! If only they still did 4* fully leaded!

2009 A8 4.2 FSi LWB - Marine Blue - 164k miles. Extras? Too many to list. But I do like the Rear Seat Entertainment . . . . . .

477k miles to the moon and back. 238k to go and between them they'll have made it!
