Default Tool loan?

Hiya

Does anyone on here know of any national/mail order chains that specialise in hiring automotive/non-industrial tools?

I could do with hiring a 1/4" torque screwdriver/wrench that covers very low torque levels. I'm a bit like a bull in a china shop with a wrench of any description so don't trust myself to manually gauge 2Nm, never mind 4.5Nm

I'm not sure what profession might actually 'need' a tool like that - my mate who works in a garage laughed at me when I asked lol

I don't mate no, you are looking for a really low torque

6Nm is just over hand tight if that helps.

What about a beam type? i'm sure my old fella has one that goes from 0 - ??? lbs ft. 4.5Nm = 3.3 Lbs ft

Draper beam type

You have a 1/2 to 1/4" adapter

Thanks guys - added the Norbar one to my watch list but guess it'll go a lot more expensive before the auction ends. The others are what I'd cal proper tools which if I was going to use a lot I wouldn't mind spending that amount but not for 20 fixings or so.

The draper one is the kind of money I wouldn't mind spending to hire one for a weekend but not sure a scale of 0-200Nm/21kg/m can be all that accurate at both ends of the scale!

Not in a desperate rush as need consistent decent weather before I remove my sunroof panel.....

Bicycle fanatics are into these low-torque wrenches.

Yeah, I tried my brother in law as he's got about 6 bikes but even he doesn't own one! Will have to ask around locally.

Finally bought one! Been watching loads on eBay but they end up selling for not much less than new or being of dubious condition

Picked up a brand new Norbar TTi20 which covers 1-20Nm for £65 including delivery from My Tool Shed. Judging by what they sell for on eBay I could probably sell it for £50+ but I plan to keep it for my bikes if nothing else!

If we get some dry weather over Xmas I may venture out to fit the solar panel
