I phoned audi in reading and they game me these details

OIL GO 52 162 A2 £11.93 + VAT
Filter 01 L 325 429 AA £36.55 + VAT
Seal O1 L 325 443 £2.66 + VAT
Gasket 01 L 321 371 £23.03 + VAT

so more inline with that IT said.

Any one know if there an equivalent to GO 52 162 A2, i think Esso LT 71141 is the only equivalent making it pointless as its not for sale anywhere.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mobil-Esso...item1e6c4504bf this is only £1 or £2 quid cheaper. So audi oil seems best option regardless.

i can run a cheaper version for 5-10K and then dump it.

Would help if the audi dealers actually new in the first place.

Give J-Pat a call and speak with the storeman. I recently bought Lifeguard from them at a very good price and next day delivery. They also supply gaskets and filters

got 8 litres of G052162A2 from here

www.germanautopartsdirect.co.uk (after trolling threads)

Get gaskets tomorrow or Thursdays. Will post update.

After reading sarges threads. At least my mechanic is not likely to **** this up by using wrong ATF.

Some times a home worker mechanic is best !

1st, I'm not convinced the garage I used totally fouled it up, as I think it must have been in its way out anyway, but they certainly didn't do the job properly, but that's the thing, most people don't know how to di it properly, you really need some kind of pump to make sure all the old oil is removed.

2nd, your symptoms sound similar to mine, the biggest jolts were when slowing down to a halt, at a junction for example, it would jolt a bit changing down into 1st

3rd, a reconditioned replacement box is definitely the way to go if yours does fail. I sold my to a Polish scrapper and bought a Boxster to replace it and now deeply regret not just using the cash to replace the box as I loved that car and it was in great nick otherwise with a nice spec, and I'd have saved about 6k by not buying a new car too!

Mine droves great too and has lpg, it doesn't judder when driving or knock or when down shifting it's smooth. Maybe it's had an easy life or oil change in the past it does hunt and have the clutch slipping affect under light throttle. Which in these cars you tent to be using a lot. I. 50/50 if I'd get a rebuilt gearbox, but I'd deffo swap for a more reliable one. I know the cars got a lot of life in it yet. These would of been one of the ultimate motorway cars and solidly reliable if Audi had just stated the gearbox oil needed changing at 20k. Plus they would of made more money for the dealers

I'd probably not buy another Audi and especially not oqne above an a4 if I can't get this fixed. Yes these are amazing, smooth, reliable and luxurious cars. But a fail at the end the day is a fail.

Not the same kettle of fish I know, but if I'd gone for a e36 m3 It would of likely lasted ages and been cheaper and easier to run. Non smg model.

I would definitely have another A8, nothing to beat them IMO.

All cars have their problems - M3 brakes are horrifically expensive, rear springs break, brittle alloys, expensive parts, expensive insurance and the E36 is easy to break into - I know from experience, My E36 328i Sport also had to have the nicasil liners done at less than 10k and a few months old.

Porsche has problems with the RMS (touch wood I'm ok on this!) and poverty spec cars, and the most up to date nav update you can get is still dated 2007.

I will get this done prob next week now as oil may not come or too busy to pick up gaskets. Hopefully it will fix or reduce my problem significantly as its nothing major. Its more annoying than anything. (in the back of mind i know it will break one day at any time. which is the more annoying bit)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2906837495...84.m1439.l2649

this is the car i got. £2100 i paid it was on ebay 3 hours before my offer was accepted. It isnt a high spec in terms of options but it still decent enough. Came with decent tyres on all 4 corners to falken and perillis

If i had to break it, i reckon the LPG systems worth 800 quid alone. So ill know ill get some money back at least.

But really i want this beast on the road, was going to add 18 or 19s at some point, but thats been put on the back burner for now.
