Sad indeed, but I was glad that Ray, Nick and Ann and I could be there in person, and that others were able to share this over the ether. Ray was with Lyn inside the crematorium, whilst the rest of us watched online from the comfort of our '8s, which I think Mark would also have given a wry smile about.

Ray may well be along later to share his reflections, and Jim to give details of the JustGiving page for this. I just wanted to do a few quick things at this point:

(1) To thank Ray for representing the forum at this and for supporting Lyn so well since Mark's passing - no one could have done this better,

(2) To thank Jim, Nick and Ann for travelling up to support Lyn too,

(3) To share the single photo that was taken of the cars in procession, waiting for the cortège. This was the only bit of the day that vaguely approached a "normal" meet, with us discussing order of cars, spacing etc, etc

RIP Mark, gone but definitely not forgotten.

So sad to hear of Mark’s passing. I didn’t meet him, but I don’t feel I needed to, to appreciate what a lovely man he evidently was. This thread speaks volumes.

My thoughts go out to his family and friends.

A lovely service, I think it's especially sad when parents have to attend the funeral of their "kids" no matter what age they are. I was coping reasonably well, even in my hormonally challenged state, until Mark’s mum placed the red rose.

RIP Mark, a true gent indeed.

May I apologise to everyone for not holding myself together as well as I wanted. As most of you know Mark and Lyn were very close friends of both Gwen and I. They were there for me when Gwen passed, as were others from the forum.
Brian is correct, I don't think I could manage to lose one of my kids.
After the service I took Lyn home and spent some time there with her and her daughters and their chaps. I left them to have some time together. The kids will be heading home over the weekend and Lyn will call me when she needs me.
For once I am really stuck for words.
Everyone please stay safe.

Despite no longer having an A8/S8, during my seldom log ins to have a browse through the latest posts, this was the last thing I was hoping to read.

Really sorry to hear this news. Mark seemed like one of the most kind-hearted and enthusiastic chaps anyone could know. Wishing Lyn and the family all the best for the future.

Last night Lyn asked me again to thank everyone for the kind thoughts and cards that she has received.
Still a very difficult time for her but she assures me a couple of times a day that she is managing to cope. There are lots of things to do and organise so she is keeping busy.
Whenever she needs me she lets me know and I can be with her in half an hour.May I also thank you all.

I'm devastated to hear this, and I'm sorry to everyone that I haven't come across this thread before now.

Ray, I'm sorry your words are no longer the last, but I have to pay my own respects to Mark.

Always a great one for banter, I enjoyed interacting with him on this forum, and often played on the fact that my car was never clean, unlike his!
I'm disappointed that I can no longer entertain the idea of meeting him some day, he was a great contributer to this forum, and by all accounts a great bloke in general.
He struck me as quite young, but I never did learn his age. As has been said before, life is not fair.

I hope he now gets to find the answer to the "Meaning Of Life The Universe And Everything".
Rest in Peace Moltuae

Thank You Marty for your kind words. I will pass them on to Lyn in the morning.
Mark was only 50 and a really top bloke.
