Ceramic Polish / Coating etc
has anybody got any opinions on ceramic polish / clay barring etc
looks like a mine field on ceramic stuff

Halfords sell a clay glove which I use after washing and before polishing. It seems to remove minor contamination quite well and leaves a smooth paint finish to apply polish to.

If you're considering it, I'd get it professionally applied with a guarantee (which usually involves getting them back to inspect and top up on an annual basis)
Our Golf had a new car paint correction and ceramic coating by a GTechniq dealer, which is warranted to the purchaser for 7 years, and it's still doing something even now the car is 6 years old. It's not transferable, so I've not had the inspection/top up as we're the 2nd owners, but it does make the car easier to keep clean. The important thing with ceramic coating is that the surface it's applied to needs to be spotless, and ideally you want it as blemish free as possible otherwise you're just covering imperfections. Ceramics have got easier to apply, but I'd certainly want it doing indoors in a controlled environment (temperature and humidity) so it cures properly. Given what you've spent on the RS I would defo do it

Yep, and some of the more common product suppliers also run a list of recommended regional suppliers that've been trained in use of the products, so worth a cross-reference

I'd wholly recommend ceramic. It costs a few hundred quid, but lasts at least three years, and makes washing the car a whole lot quicker and easier, as well as protecting the car better than any polish does.
I think I've got CQuartz Pro on mine, but I can't remember to be honest, but definitely worth getting a pro to do it, properly.

It is best done by a pro.
But I have done my own for a few years now and always been well pleased with the result. I love the smoothness of the finish. Really hard work and I suppose I'm getting too old for it. Then it's certainly not an annual task. Well worth the expense.
