Default ABZ crank pulley bolt

Hi everyone,

Was doing my timing belt and saw that whoever was in there before me had taken an air chisel to the crank pulley bolt and taken off a chunk. Unfortunately I can't seem to find this particular bolt anywhere (Canada). Had to file down part of the bolt for the socket to fit over.

Would I be able to use the crank pulley bolt from the 40v engines? As far as I know it's the same threat pattern, but slightly shorter at 85mm vs 100mm and a different head.

I can't seem to find any aftermarket bolt and no one seems to stock the bolt for this engine anymore.

My other option would be to reuse this bolt. As much as I wouldn't like to, would red loctite be sufficient when reusing? I've attached images of the damage to the bolt.

Thanks

The bolt stretches quite significantly when its torqued up. I wouldn't re-use it.

It is still available from Audi Tradition in Germany. Tradition are notoriously difficult to deal with but if you email our hosts on enquiry@prestigemotorservices.co.uk they should hopefully be able to order one for you and send it on

Listed to the D2 Doctor. Having had two of these bolts fail under load in my AHC (S8) you don't want to trust to a used mangled bolt. If my memory serves me correctly (not very often nowadays). It's 200 lb/ft and 180° to tighten it. It also needs threadlock according to the service manual.
HtH

If Prestige can't help (I'm sure they will), try Spanker who is on here. He should be able to help.
