Default Creaky Headlining

I have all sorts of annoying creaks that appear to come from my headling (02 D2) when as the car body flexes over bumps etc., but despite my best efforts I cannot track down he precise cause or location. I tried screwing down the sunroof frame a bit harder - no difference. Does anyone know a possible cause of this or can anyone provide me with the complete procedure for removing the headlining so that I can find the source and refix everything securely?

Thanks.

Definitely headlining? I sometimes get creaks from the door trim and a bit of silicone spray sorts that out.

My steering column has a squeak from time to time that bugs me...

One problem with such a quiet well insulated car is you hear all the tiniest rattles inside but none of the external noises of impending doom. My gearbox/pump/TC noises were almost impossible to hear inside but soon as you opened the door it was bleeding obvious there was something wrong.

Ian@A8parts will be around soon and he has removed and refitted several headlinings. I'm sure he will be able to help.

Is the column squeak from the top near the wheel or further down? Sometimes the bit where the column goes through the bulkhead (rubber grommetty-thing) can get dry and needs a wee bit of lube.

Mind is certainly from the roof area - seems to be just above the passangers head.

Checked the sunroof seals?

Could still be the headlining... You don't have a roof-mount dvd screen do you?

No roof-mounted DVD--I've got a mortal antipathy to in-car DVD players.

I'm now certain that the noise is coming from the area between the front edge of the sunroof and the front edge of the passenger sunvisor. If I push up on that area it stops the noise. Is there anything particular in there that could be moving? Anything I should tighten up? If not, does anyone know the procedure for getting into that area?

Thanks
