Default 2007 sport 3.0 tdi front end knock

Hello everyone, hope your all well

I have noticed a very slight knock on the front wheels when going over rough ground, it's not bad at the minute but not as it should be
Anyone got any ideas on what it could be, my garage has checked track rods etc and all seem fine
Would like it putting right before it gets worse
Small things like that drive me crackers ???

Thanks Andy

Before I did it I got the local mechanic to put the car on the ramps and check, I would advise the same but your fault does sound very similar.

Not specific to D3 or any car for that matter it could be any of suspension arms, track rod ends or C links or none at all. I have seen a strain bolt left in plenum area rolling around and making similar sound as well.

Default D3 Front Knocking Sound

I have a 3.0TDI D3 with 205K miles and rising. The Drop Links/C-shaped links that are attached to either end of the Anti Roll Bar would be the first place to look, I have had them replaced twice (£65+vat for the pair).
The lower arms with the track rod end have also gone on mine over the years but the noise would usually be on the left or the right but not both together.
The 2 bushings on the centre section of the Anti Roll Bar also cause the knocking you describe but you would have to replace the complete Anti Roll Bar (£146+vat) as these Bushings are not available separately.
One way to eliminate some of the options is to temporarily remove the Anti Roll Bar (Only 4 Bolts) and road test without it fitted. If the noise is still present, its back to checking the upper and lower arms which are all mega ££ for Genuine parts.

No need to buy Audi oem parts either.
Get the Meyle HD replacements. Cheaper, and better quality, and a 5 yr guarantee.
