Default Best D3 headlights ?

What are the best D3 lights to have. I have both bi xenon with cornering lights on the W12 and then on the 4.2 i have normal xenon with a normal main beam bulb.
I find the normal lights far better than the xenon.. on main beam that is..

As i have the chance to change my lights im just wandering what the best option is ?

Your W12 has the top of the range ones but I agree bi-xenon is poor.
The best would probably be the xenon dip with halogen main beam but only comes with no DRL or cornering function.

I have read one can also get better bi xenon modules to replace the one in the lamp housing- the ones we have are Hella Gen 4 bi xenon. If you have a lamp off the car, it should be easy to see if it can be withdrawn from behind and measured up for an upgrade.

I have replaced my D2S bulbs with Osram CBI and they focus the light further up the road on main beam than the old ones. There is a sort of hot-spot when shining them on a wall.

I find it amazing that you think the bi xenon are no good, when i first got mine lights were fine, but when i took it for an MOT the tester adjusted the lights without knowing there is a procedure to do it in vcds needles to say the lights were ****e after and I had to get them done properly.

Hi All,
I currently have halogen main and dip. The dips have projector lens like the fog lights.
I am looking at updating the dips to Xenon HIDs.
The mains will probably stay as halogen.
The fogs might become HIDs as well but maybe CREE LEDs.
Suggestions from you knowledgeable guys would be welcomed.
Hope I have not started another hot discussion

I got Bi-xenons with cornering and that AFSII system. Not sure if AFSII and cornering lights always go hand in hand.

And I find them amazing.

My head lights are slightly faded and have the odd stone chips.
I'm going to get them polished up soon, be interesting to see what difference that makes to the light out put.
Looking at the Allroad that was done last weekend, it should make a massive difference.

If you have old bulbs they do go dim.
Mine on the left is 3 years old CHLIGHT branded.
The right is OSRAM CBI.

I'm happy with my cornering bi xenons (gas discharge), and I've never had a halogen come close.

First MOT on mine Delboy, and the testers did exactly the same with my lights. One of the reasons I've since used Audi sealers for the MOT's

They are different. The AFS cornering (where the headlight bulb physically swivels with the steering wheel) came out around 2006. My A8 has it, I believe all S8's have it.

Earlier cars, even earlier W12 likely have the original xenon plus with cornering lights and DRL, which to be honest are more than adequate and its less to go wrong...

Xenon plus with DRL became standard on the 2008 facelift so they do give a slightly more modern look to the front of a car if fitted...

The All LED headlights on the A7 were stunning. If you thought Xenons were white, you aint seen anything till you've seen all LED in action.... nice to be able to flash properly rather than with a Halogen substitute too...

I must admit i fitted the cree 80w led drl bulbs on neils car for him and they are amazingly like the W12 lights

Id like to get fresh bulbs in it all and also change the fixed cornering bulbs over for LED or a whiter light to compliment the look of the DRL and xenon , also do the fogs at the same time while its all out and off ect
Current set up is dipped xenon main beam halogen and no cornering lights and only the small 501 side lights not very bright at all..

I want something fresh looking for my new 2009 front end as its got a piano black grill and square fogs ...
Oh and my old fogs were projectors and new ones seem to be just a standard lense
What do you recomend ?

My lights swivel when turning.
I love it. Makes a different on the country roads round here.

The obvious choice would be the headlights with LED DRLs and AFSII.
Then convert any other bulb to LED.
