Default what caused this ?

with guidance from MJ have been trying to put out the brake pad wearing sign
although I finally used the shorting out behind the dash method to kill the sign ,the restore to correct working order method threw up some interesting symptoms !

one front wheel jacked up ,wheel off , start engine , engage gear ... holding on footbrake ; after some seconds heavy vibrations on footbrake which stopped after a few seconds FOR some seconds

after test just mentioned pushed lever into park , loud rattling noise for some seconds rather like changing gear on a manual without sufficiently depressing the clutch

remount wheel , lower car onto all wheels......no more vibrations ;tested ABS ...OK

repeated with other front wheel ....exactly the same

Did you have a bolt holding the brake disc to the hub? If not, the hub will spin inside the disc and the ABS will go nuts which is what the vibrations will have been. It would detect the pedal is pressed but one corner is still rotating.

The loud rattling noise will have been the parking pawl trying to engage while the drivetrain was still rotating! Probably best not to do that too often
