Hi guys,

for info, the car is cold again, according to VCDS the pump failed at the end of August, but it's only recently turned cold enough to notice.

I've gone the aliexpress route this time, the last pump lasted ~5yrs.

Looks like i'm swapping it over the Christmas break

Albert

Mines is doing something similar but not quite the same and think I saw a similar message pop up about circ pump. I get heat randomly and nothing from dash vents. Only seems to blow windscreen n warmer on pass side. I also know the flap thing behind glovebox needs replacing

Had a few Audis over the years, mostly early stuff, newest was a D3 prior to my D4, nothing much kept me smitten with other marques so I floated about a bit from one thing to another until that four ring lure caught hold

I'd bet a tenner it's the pump.

The "random" heat you speak of, is it when you throw the car round a corner, and the momentum moves the water through the heater matrix?

Mine gets warmer if i drive it like i stole it

That statement brings back memories. I had a brand new Audi A4 back in late '95 that exhibited the same problem joining a slip road from a roundabout. Only happened on left turns.

Only time I had those symptoms was after a major service (long ago) at Audi when they didn't top up the coolant properly. Easily fixed by me.

For info, the pump arrived the other day, and it's bloody different.

It works perfectly, the car is warm, and the fault has cleared in vcds, but the mounting holed were different.

I've adapted the mount slightly, so it fits, but "next time" i'll take more attention when ordering.

Albert
