Thanks guys, I was definitely shaken immediately after, but calm during the incident. It is strange how the brain works. I just hope I never come across a wrong way car again.

Mark what car were you driving during your incident?

I think it was my Citroen BX (1.9L DTR Turbo). Nothing like the power of the S8 but back in the day they were the world's fastest production diesel. The car was light and the engine was (just about) torquey enough to pull me out of trouble.

Glad your OK Goran. A very unsettling experience. I know as it's happened to me three times, all on the A38. And each time my initial momentary reaction was that I'd somehow mistaken a normal road for a dual carriageway.

The last two times were on the same stretch and within a few months of each other. I put it down to satnav taking people to a junction onto the A38 where it's not obvious that the road they are joining is a dual carriageway.

I wrote to the highways people, explained the issue and the solution (signage) and of course heard nothing back from them, but thankfully there are more signs there now.

One of my colleagues was overtaken on the M6, by a car on the other side of the barrier.

Thanks!
Funny you should say that, for a few minutes I too was worried it was my mistake and that it was a single lane road. But thinking back it definitely had another two lanes on the other side of some bushes in the middle reservation, and cut outs to go across the carrigeway to access farm roads.
