Default Rear carpet mats (PF) - how are they secured?

As noted in another thread I'm sorting out my inconsistent set of mats.
My one (nearside) rear carpet mat has 2 large velcro circles under the rear edge that secure to smaller (black) velcro patches in the carpet.
The offside rear carpet also has these 2 velcro patches but no mat!

All this was hidden under a pair of black aftermarket mats until my recent "flooding".

The patches on the carpet "look" like they may well come out easily (screwed into the main carpet pile?) but I don't want to touch them until I know for sure.

So, does anyone know, are these just aftermarket fixings - they are after all black patches on a nice platinum carpet - or are they Audi originals?
And if they aren't from Audi, what DO Audi use for securing their "proper" carpet mats in the rear (if anything).

Pretty sure mine weren't secured with anything, which was a pain in the backside... Though the mention of black circles also rings a bell, so possibly the mats had them but they've been 'lost' from the car.

A Pic of my S8 FL 2002 Back Mats which are OEM.
No Clips etc...just 2 Velcro type rings as mentioned before.

Must say I've neva had an issue with them sliding or not being in position...

Can't see Audi would have changed them from the PFL.....

Thanks.
That's exactly what my solitary nearside rear mat looks like, so it's probably OEM. (but isn't exactly the same shade as the carpet.... )

I'm also missing the Passengers Front Top Mat and am struggling to ID the right colour......
and as per usual one has to buy a whole set (ex Stealers) which will reduce the Frostie Fund... Drastically....

So I'm contemplating doing something like this....

Using these guys.... http://www.lovemycar.co.za/index.php...emart&Itemid=1

They embroider custom for one.... and the quality looks on par....

I'm going for 2 sets (black and matching) as my interior is light (platinum):
1. Black third-party rugged carpet mats for "winter" use (and bad weather) which will have a little embroidered "silver-grey" logo of my Registration number on the door-side edges of the front mats. (yes, I know )
2. Light-grey deep-pile ones for fair weather. Again not Audi but intended to look like them, or better.

I've ordered the first ones but haven't decided on which supplier for the second ones. The main issue is whether or not to have a "heel pad" on the drivers mat - some say they're unnecessary (read difficult) on deeper pile.

If the rear mats (either set) aren't secure I'll just glue some velcro tape/patches of the correct "gender" on the back.

Well my bespoke black mats (embroidered with reg no on both fronts) arrived today, which is pretty amazing as I ordered them on Tuesday afternoon about 2pm.

Perfect for bad weather, good "grippy" back and a good fit, so I don't think I'll need any velcro in the rear.
The front ones are about 1cm short on the back edge compared to the Audi ones so you see a thin strip of main carpet that ideally you shouldn't, but the clips are fine and the footwell shape fits perfectly.

From CyberSpares of Mansfield (on eBay), were they once CyberMats?

Not sure on that one HP, I bought my 'bespoke' (over) mats from Cyber mats (their top range ones) and think they are excellent.

It's probably the same firm, "reborn".

The only problem I have with the better quality from them is the colour choice.
Black is good for "everyday" but I need light grey for "best" to match my carpet and they only do that in "deluxe" which is next to bottom quality - the 2 top grades have a very limited colour choice.
