Seriously, is the top car the 8?

I HATE this trend of fake exhaust ends embedded in the rear valance.
Having driven behind Neil in his 'borrowed' D5 last year, I've come to distinguishing the A8 apart from the A6 by it having the full width rear light, since it now has the chrome strip the same as the A6.

The fake exhausts really cheapen the look of the cars to me, and with the A8, it also has the additional horizontal strip inside the fake exhaust tip. At least the S8 variant will have proper exhausts... going by the spy shots of it anyway.

Yes, the top one is the A8.
I think you need good eyes and a quick brain to spot the difference when one is coming down the road to you though.

I was waiting at the station last night and a big Audi came and manoeuvred to park a couple of cars along from me.
I really couldn't tell if it was a 6 or 8 until I spotted the step detail of the rear lights from the side/rear as it reversed in.

Something very similar just happened at the weekend.
Whilst parking in a car park on Saturday, Vera spotted a space up ahead and said "let's park next to the A8 up there."
After we got out, I took a picture of the two cars and noted that this was the first A8 (D5) that I had seen as an S-Line.
We both admired the interior and the exterior lines.
Whilst walking away from the car, Vera noted that we'd both been duped by an impressive looking A6.
