Default TV Tuner?

Evening all
I hope (in fear though!) not too silly a question first up. I got my new (to me) car yesterday its a May 2005 D3 facelift.
Would it have an analogue TV Tuner as standard? I press the CD/TV button on the console and the CD menu comes up, but nothing else happens. Wasn't expecting to be able to watch Eastender's but thought I might get snow or something, but it just doesn't do anything else.

Any ballpark figures for a basic instal that would give digital TV on the go? I'm Surrey/London so a recommendation would be great

I think you need to look in the boot to see if TV is fitted, almost certainly an option not standard.
Audi digital TV's are not cheap, but someone else will know more than me....

(Currently part-way through adding a DVB-T tuner to my old school analogue unit on my RNS-C)

And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

Most likely your car will have an analogue tuner which has now been made redundant in most places, the good news is if you drive north for 750 miles and west another 40 miles you should be able to catch last weeks Eastenders before it disappears out over the Atlantic.

On the other hand you can buy a digital tuner, sadly though even second hand they are expensive.

Depends on which version of the MMI software you have (probably an older one ,but it can be updated). You may need to push a button round the big knob (ahem) which will say 'source' on the screen and that will allow you to select TV.

99% sure that all D3 A8s had TV as standard.

if the seller alluded to the tv being there its likely you have a tv.

Press the TV/CD button and you get the cd display, the top right button (around the main knob) should give you a source selection, if the TV is not listed here you probably dont have one

or you can continue to press the cd/tv button several times in succesion to swap through the sources available

That's what they cost. Even secondhand is not much less.

Not sure what options you have without any tuner at all.
The "antique" sort I have has an Auxiliary video input so with some work you can add a third-party DVb-T tuner, though with separate controls, not via the RNS.
