Thanks HPsauce, maybe I'll look into the possibility/cost of an aux instal via an older (and cheaper) tuner.

I believe without the TV installed as standard you will also need the fbas unit fitted under the dash, as well as the tv unit in the rear, plus the cabling that wont be there will cost quite a bit.

it may be worth taking a look at the kufatec website, and there is also the xcarlink device

http://www.xcarlink.co.uk/product.ph...8&cat=4&page=1

this will give you several inputs to add any video devices you want to use, and it installs fairly easily without the need for the OEM parts that will be required for the tuner. and extra device will feed sound and ipod conectivity through your bose system, and both together may cost the same as an fbas unit

^^^ What he said... Though I'd be really surprised to find it has no TV at all. Do you have access to VCDS? Or near someone that has it?

Thanks limoncello, the xcarlink product looks good. So if I get that, a tuner and the extra device for sound I could be up and running, with the option to add a dvd!

As I have no clue about instal I would need to find a fitter, are there any pitfalls with letting Google be my friend to find someone. Also is DAB radio a separate project?

Very grateful for the help.

yes that should do it, if you buy both together it comes to 250 ish, i would get a decent tuner though , one that follows the channel you watch or at least auto tunes. or just add one of the small media drives so you can watch video files from sd card and usb.

fitting doesnt look too dificult, theres quite a few good people around so shouldnt be that expensive for a fit only, where abouts are you ?

theres a few DAB radios on ebay at the moment one of thems £130, plus you need some extra wiring and possibly fitting a new connector device which i think is in the roof panel (depends on which version you have) personally i prefer the audi AMI to DAB

limoncello, I am Surrey/London borders, but happy to travel for the right result, gives me an excuse to drive the car if nothing else! Your suggestion of a small drive is far more flexible than a dedicated DVD player

theres a few on ebay, i would pick one of the £25ish ones that do a variety of formats.

i dont know any fitters down there, someone may be able to jump in with some info, but i know craigyb gets down to london at least once a week to do fittings etc, not sure where he goes to. he's well reccomended and one of the most knowledgeable audi experts around. he has done some stuff for me in the past

his website is http://www.tclsatnav.com/

Don't forget, a lot of people with significant knowledge are at "the meet" this weekend, or otherwise engaged. I'd wait a few days and see what other options are suggested.

Are you 100% sure there's no TV tuner of any sort in the boot? Photo?

2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (A much rarer model than a D2 S8 by the way!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!
Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon, Auto-dim mirror, Leather, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!
