Default Unfortunate Incident

Unfortunate incident - At a petrol station, my son who just turned 2 wriggled out of his carseat straps, I got out of the car with it running to put them back on and tighten them, as soon as I shut the drivers door, he pressed the lock button on the back door, attracted by it's little red light.
I then realised, phone, carkey etc.. were all on passenger seat.
Eventually, the staff called the fire brigate. The window was vert strong after several blows with the pointed end of an axe, a windscreen saw was used. I recommend anyone hide the small plastic valet key somewhere on the outside of the car.

Oh dear. For future reference, you might want to call a breakdown service rather than the fire service. Last time I locked my key in the A6 the AA guy was in non-destructively in a couple of minutes.

OK it was a D3 but in Germany when my keys were locked in the boot the ADAC (German AA) chap took 20 minutes to open the driver's door. We kept telling him that would not help.
Took another 20 minutes for him to open the boot.
Cost . . . . nothing, just good will.

It seems like it, they didn't even ask how it happened.
The staff called Fire Brigade - maybe because it was a petrol station and the engine was running. If you think for a while there are some great places to hide the plastic key.

As long as your son was ok, that’s the important bit Snap. Kids these days are too clever for their own good.

Rather than hide a valet key, why not just keep your key in your pocket instead of on the seat? When I leave the house my keys go in my pocket and remain there until I get back home.

I always do apart from that time... It was one of those days/weeks
Anyway, all 3 things have happened now touch wood. Wife's cambelt was the final one.

Hey Snap,

Sorry to read this. Same has happened me a few times too. I'd posted up a question actually to see if its possible to switch off central locking from rear seats but it doesn't seem like that's doable...

I've gone with a low tech solution of duck tape over the switch itself. It's a scary thing to happen as with keyless go i quite often get out of the car for a minute forgetting the key as i've left it in the ashtray....

Hope you get sorted with a new window Ok!!

Cheers....
