Default Drivers Door Wiring

I have a new fault that should be fairly easily fixed, buy I need a little info so I can get the right parts, or direction for further investigation.

My drivers door wiring must have some damage because if the wiring inside the conduit from the door to the main body is wiggled, the lights, locking and sensors become inoperable - which makes for interesting entry/exit of the vehicle if it moves while shut

I know that I will either have to replace or repair some wiring, but I don't know what is in there.
  • Is the wiring a single loom part or are there multiple feeds
  • Can the wires be removed from the conduit to repair or does the whole conduit section need replacing
  • I assume that any wiring has plugs at both ends to enable replacement
  • Is the wiring wire or optical (Hopefully wire so I can repair)
  • Pray that it does not get knocked at Audi in the Service on Saturday They may not accept climbing over the passenger seat without charging me a small fortune to replace the wire (Doubt they would have the part anyway)
  • Any other warnings before I start on Friday night in this lovely mild weather we are having

I'm fairly sure the D3 has door ECU's per door - addressable in Vag com.

So it should be a relatively small number of data wires + power & presumably some speakers cables too into the door, with the trickery done inside it.

Copper only, no optical... Optical is only for the MMI on D3

Not sure about the actual wiring run/route/conduit however....

Never been in the doors myself, never hasa need too but like Ian says there can't be too much,

Pull the rubber conduit back from the car body where the wires go in, have a vague thought that there might be a plug in there that you could disconnect.

As for trying to find the broken wire I would get a heat gun on them and make it warm enough so the insulation is pliable then see if you can stretch each wire, broken one should be apparent enough by the insulation stretching out.
