Thanks AM8tey - where are these mounts? The top of the strut is a machined aluminium casting with three hollow centring 'spikes' that bolts with three large bolts onto the space frame/turret. If you meant this casting on the strut then it was replaced with the new strut assembly - or is there something up in the wheelarch?

I think Neil might mean the D2. The D3 air strut is different though as its all one assembly.

I'm borrowing this thread as the tittle is good enough.

I was just wondering about how many times have you replaced the front wheel bearing on your D3? I have had the car for about 5,5 years, and from the sound of it, its time to replace the left front again. This will be the 5th in my ownership...

Genuine Audi bearings or OE-quality aftermarket (SKF / FAG) last well over 100K miles in my experience.

If you're going through one a year that suggests they either aren't being fitted correctly, or you're using very low quality parts.
