I have an N263 fault code which appears to be a faulty gearbox mounting, so I have ordered a new one and should have it by tomorrow

Has anyone done this job before?

Well according to TPS the N263 code does not tell you which side transmission valve (gearbox mounting) is faulty, so it is a guessing game. I ordered an off side and when I put an ohm meter across the terminals of the new valve it gave a steady reading of 18ohms, the old valve however gave a variable reading of between 750 and 1200 ohms, so this was the deciding factor to change this side. I never even bothered to check the readings of the other side.

A bit of a gamble really as the valves are over £230 each and once you plug in the connection TPS will not give a refund.

I've cleared the fault on VCDS so will scan in a few days time and hopefully everything will be clear.

This is the o/s mounting

It looks like salt water corrosion is the cause of the problem

I am getting a similar fault, but am a little stuck on the part numbers as ETKA does not list my old part number. What was the part mumber for your old and new mounts?
Thanks

The off-side part number for the valve I bought is 4EO 399 151 DH
No point giving you the old part number as it has been superseded
The two letters at the end denote which side, DH being the off-side. The near side will be the same number but with 2 different letters at the end

If you can get the car in the air and remove the electrical connection and stick an ohm meter onto the terminals and get a reading to determine which one is faulty it will save you buying the wrong one.

I would suspect the near side valve will be a little trickier to change as the exhaust in beside it.

To change the valve I raised the car on a 4 post ramp, removed the gearbox under-tray loosened the valve top bolt which is an 8mm hex Allen Key, using a trolley jack and 4' piece of tubing I raised one side of the gearbox just enough to lift it off the valve, removed the 2 x 13mm bolts which hold the valve onto the crossmember. Fitting is reversal and all in it took about 15-20 minutes

Car is very smooth again, the new mounting sorted it out.

Before changing I was getting a vibration for around the first 15 minutes of driving when the vehicle was cold, it did seem to smooth out once the engine was heated up, also on idle when cold you could feel it vibrate through the cabin
