I've got a feeling that it may well be built in to the "tub" shaped receptacle that drops into the rest of the centre console so you may well need to source another tub if you want rid. call A8 parts and ask David there or Carl as I'm sure they will know for sure and may even have an alternative tub

It is built into the tub.. You 'could' get it out, but you'll be left with a big hole there, easier just to source a tub that hasn't had phone prep if you can.

Its mainly the tub I want out.
I'm keeping the phone system (just ordered a cradle and matching phone) but its fealthy and want to give it all a clean. I've done the front half and want to do the back half.

Looking at it, I need to take the arm rest out and not sure how.

Isn't the armrest pillar a taper fit, just like the D2? Gentle taps upward to release if it is.

This is vaguely relevant: http://www.audipages.com/Tech_Articl..._remove_D3.pdf

There don't appear to be any thing holding it down or any mention of it.

I thought the twin arm rest was standard.

so grap it on both sides and lift it up?

It's definitely bolted down... pretty sure you have to take the armrests off and the tub just pops up.

How do you take the armrests off? lol

I found something to do with the D2 where you got to take the sides apart but I don't want to start pulling random things and see what gives.

After you've popped the trim off and undone the bolt of course.

Probably similar for D3 as that also has a chrome trim: http://www.wolfautoparts.com/4e08642...ver-37950.html
