Default 2018 Navigation Maps for MMI 3G, 3G Plus

Hey guys just thought I'd let you know that I have successfully updated my Navigation database to the 2018 version ECE 6.25.3 Part Number: 8R0060884EM.

As usual the process takes a good 2-3 hours, for which i decided to get a battery charger from halfords which did a very good job at supplying 12V power to the battery.

Prior to starting the update process here was my software version:

You can check the following version information by entering Engineering mode. Press Car + Return and hold till the menu opens up. You can also perform backups of the settings and contacts profiles from here.

In Engineering mode, hit Update then choose your Update Medium, usually the SD Card. THe MMI will then search for updates on the SD card and prompt you to choose and continue.

At some point the update process will start and will take 2-3 hours to complete. You can actually leave the car unattended and locked while the update takes place.. just make sure that your battery charger is hooked up otherwise you'll have big problems if the power runs out.

After it's all done your navigation database will be updated.

However you now need to apply the activation key patch otherwise you'll get a message that the Navigation data is blocked. I did so by puting the required files on a seperate SD card and followed the same update procedure.

I'm willing to share this SD card with members should they wish to carry out this update at their own risks.. Drop me a message if interested. Thanks

Hmm I think you might need to update the firmware to a more recent version like mine in order to update with 2018 Navigation Maps.

As for 3G Plus, I don't think it's possible to fit to a D3 as the hardware itself is different to the 4E.. but i could be wrong.

Oh I forgot to mention that this database will only work on MMI 3G High units.
