Molly the Boxster passed her MOT this morning, couple of quickfixes needed for re-test (a fuse for the horn and the washers weren't working, quickly traced to a pipe that had worked loose), couple of advisories (brake discs and rear tyres) but nothing unexpected for me nor the buyer as I've been quite candid in telling him what needs doing.

So I'm off now to go deliver it to him, money should be in the bank this afternoon, but what's next???

A V8 or a diesel? Hmm....

Glad it's sold..

If you're not doing big miles, you'll get a better deal on a petrol V8... though the 4.2 is a nice engine for a diesel, you wouldn't know until you look at the rev counter and the consumption.

On the train on the way home

Not buying anything until mid-April (long story) but it could be anything, a 4x4 might be nice but so would a 3-series coupe or an S8

Might have a look at S8s around 18k but unsure of maintenance costs, what should I expect to be paying for servicing, tyres, brakes (not ceramic) etc?

Did think about an e60 m5 but £2k for a set of brakes puts me right off

Servicing on a non-ceramic S8 will be much the same as any big D3 really.

Default S8 running costs

Hi sarg,

I have run my 2006 s8 v10 for 30,000 miles from 60k to 90k. I put up a post on running costs in this post http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/t...7s+Guide&mid=0

Strongly recommend a warranty, mine has cost over 7k in repairs to power steering pump twice, air suspension pump and both rear brake caliper motors. I have a policy from Warrantywise.

Despite that, I love it for performance bang & oluffsen stereo and comfort over daily 150 mile drive. Usual security on winter conditions on winter tyres added bonus!

Pm me if you want more details.

Cheers

Richardracer
