Default Not happy

Why is it D3 owners get raped for spares as far as prices are concerned

Have a look at the following links

Complete set of 2 radars and switch gear for D4 vs one radar for D3

Ouch! Quite a hit on that part for the D3.

Could you use part revision B?

I'm not sure what the differences might be, but its just the disparity in prices that grips my .....

I wouldn't buy it unless I could find a S8 ACC cluster to fit my car.

I hastily bought a widescreen dis with ACC support and only noticed when it arrived that the dials and needles are a different colour along with other differences that would make it not suitable for my car.

I too have noticed D4 parts are cheap, the type of things one might buy for retrofits such as the night vision camera. I think it's because they are generally probably too new, leased, first owner and under warranty and the type of person who buys them new won't be into this kind of thing. I expect the prices to shoot up in the coming years.

I know exactly what you mean Del, it drives me mad !!!

Every time I'm researching or looking for something I will have D4 bits listed as well for way much less !!!

My understanding is that since D3 was superseded by D4 in 2010, D3 parts are rarer ?!?!?!

For example 2-3 years ago Facelift Tail lights were 200 to evan 300 Euro cheaper than at present.
Some German supplier I dealt with displaying the RRP of 500ish Euro crossed over and New price of over 800 Euro.
There are only 2 suppliers still selling them for around £560, where well over 2 years ago I was able to purchase a brand new set from Germany for £420 in DHL Express delivery without a hassle.

Mad mad mad.

So this is mu understanding.
Usually parts for older cars getting cheaper and cheaper over the years.
But in A8 case, which isn't such a popular car, these parts rather going up.
