I got one from a guy on e-bay for £2.99, then couple of weeks later when I needed another one but the listing had ended I e-mailed him asking if he could do me another one at the same price and he did it free of charge.

Your experience is most certainly the exception going by the current market place, many sellers charge in excess of what i am charging, so you are wrong in alluding that i am being extortionate. I also advertise on Ebay and am one of the cheapest vendors in that market place (but not everything is judged by price). You also need to consider the potential buyers who do not trust paying for such a service using Ebay, thus i have made it available at a competitive one here in the off chance someone needs it.

I was not saying that you are extortionate, for all I know you could be paying the same money to somebody else and just being helpful passing on information. I am also just sharing my experience. It does look like service suppliers follow each other changing the prices for service on e-bay, couple months back there was several listings under £5. The seller I got my codes from still have some other radio code listings on ebay.co.uk but no Audi code and they are more expensive now. He does have Audi codes listed on ebay.com but are more expensive now at $7.99 (~£5.30 at current exchange rate)
By the way dealers provide code free of charge (they can claim 0.5hrs labour from headquarters for it) but to save time and travel cost to dealer I gave a shot to cheapest listing on e-bay at the time and got working code in 33 minutes. If I had to pay £8.99 I would probably rather go to dealer for piece of mind.
