Default Instrument Cluster issues after replacing CAN gateway

Hey i have recently replaced my CAN Gateway controller (Original p/n: 4L0907468B) with 4L0907468C. Reason for this is because I am retrofitting Side assist. After I fitted it, component protection kicked in which disabled the sound system, it was only playing on the left side door speakers.
But now i'm havings issues with the instrument cluster and steering wheel roller and MODE buttons. The DIS isn't displaying the current radio station or track playing at the top and i can't access the listing or telephone options when pressing the mode buttons.

I had component protection removed by the Audi VW specialists in Harrow, which sorted the sound issue but not the instrument cluster.. they can't find any active component protection in other modules. As far as I know, I have coded the CAN gateway correctly as there is now no error codes from it. Nor did any of the coding changed for the other modules..

I did run a measuring value test on the steering wheel system and the buttons are working as they should.

any advise?

It may be worth refitting your old module and running a VCDS scan with debug 02 option, as that gives you all the hidden coding that will need restoring to your cluster/modules, before you make any changes to account for the added side assist.

My bet is there's something missing in either the instrument cluster coding or the new module

Hmmm the chap at the workshop told me that my old unit will no longer be valid on the car and that component protection will kick in again as it has been unregistered from the car.. how much truth is there to that?

Or can it be possible that the software on the CAN gateway is old and doesn't support the features i had. My car is a 2009 model and the 2nd hand unit has a date of september 2007 on it, it came from a Q7 in Germany..

I am surprised, I upgraded to 4L0 907 468 B when I fitted the reversing camera and it worked straightaway - no CP. The webpage I followed with the instructions for the retrofit alsao said the CAN gateway does not have CP.
Maybe it was introduced by suffix C.

The dealer process for removing CP removes it from all modules.
It is not possible to choose one.
It scans through them all one by one like doing a DTC scan in VCDS.

Looks like I have also lost the navigation function on the DIS too

will try and refit the original and see if it all goes back to normal

Ok so i replaced the CAN Gateway with my original one (4L0907468B) and everything is back to normal and no component protection whatsover.

I can only assume that the replacement module is faulty or the software in it is too old for the functions in the DIS. I may have to fork out £350 for a brand new one now

Weird, what SW is on your 4L0907468B?
My A8 is MMI 2G 2006, is yours 3G?

Original
Address 19: CAN Gateway Labels: 4E0-910-468.lbl
Part No SW: 4E0 910 468 B HW: 4E0 907 468 E
Component: Gateway H11 0090

Replacement
Address 19: CAN Gateway Labels: 4L0-910-468.clb
Part No SW: 4L0 910 468 A HW: 4L0 907 468 B
Component: J533__Gateway H06 0060

Almost looks like my new one is older SW B vs. A 0090 vs. 0060.
I never buy any used parts from cars older than mine either even if the part number is the same.
