I feel even more for you after an incident I had yesterday.
One of the grandkids opened the front passenger door into a moving baby carriage. Mother and baby are OK. But my 8!!!!!!
A long scratch along the length of the lower door panel.
Hopefully most of it will polish out.

I have a result. After sending in the sales receipt for mine along with two adverts for similar cars and also quoting the ombudsman about what market value means (likely cost to the customer of buying a car as near possibly identical), they've agreed the valuation was wrong and are going to repair it.

The bodyshop called today to say they've ordered the parts, I'm not sure what the lead time will be on them but they'll be giving me a call later with an estimated date for completion.

Good news and useful knowledge for us all if we're ever in a similar situation. Really pleased it worked out for you.

Well done and excellent result ... and a helpful definition of "market value"
