Default Handbrake Adjustment advice

Hi guys, just returned from the MOT station with a few jobs needed to get it through. Apart from a couple of bulbs, it needs the handbrake adjusted for excessive travel. Is this a straightforward job to do? Have done it on other cars but not on the Audi.
Any advice would be most appreciated to get the S8 back on the road, thanks.

Check out the PDF 'Service Manual Brake System.pdf' in the D2 Tech Dump section:

http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showthread.php?t=9345

Handbrake adjustment starts at section 7.3.

Thats a pretty brutal failure considering that's just how they are. To get to the handbrake adjustment you have to remove the exhaust, propshaft and heat shields. Its several hours work even for me.

Ah ok, maybe I'm best leaving it to the garage and getting a fixed labour price.

They've quoted £480 to fit a new starter motor and adjust the handbrake to pass the MOT. Seemed excessive but maybe its not if the handbrake is a pig of a job?

If that includes the starter motor then thats a decent price actually. The starter is an arse of a job too.

Which FE do you have btw?

That does include the starter yes. Thanks for the advice, perhaps we'll just agree a fixed price and let them have fun with it. I always resent paying garage price for relatively easy jobs but may have to swallow it with this one.

The car is a Final Edition. Avus silver with the purple interior. Has been off the road for a few years, so just trying to get the final push over the line.

Oh wow! That makes three known examples of the purple now then. Do you know which dealership sold it originally?

I didn't realise there were so few of them about.
No idea where it originally came from, haven't seen anything that far back in the paperwork.
