In short - probably yes It's a bit of a gamble I guess, but I sold my D3 4.2 TDI with 170K on the clock and it's still going strong with another forum member. Most of the mileage related costs were not that bad, wheel bearings, suspension arms etc - probably cost me a couple of '000 over the time I owned it. Engine wise, DPF sensors, a cooling fan and a throttle body were the main things - not sure much of that was mileage related though!?

this one has an amazing spec 98K new with 32K of extras, including night vision and just about everything else - 111K miles though is a turn of, but for less than 20K its a lot of car
I've been mulling this car since you posted it...... It has a handful of items of kit on it mine doesn't, none of which are in anyway necessary yet I'm strangely attracted.....

I think the price / mileage combo is putting me off at the moment. Whilst I appreciate the extra toys, 'design' leather pack and don't mind brown leather, others will be less forgiving, and will be more focussed on the 110K + mileage on it. Selling it on later with high miles OR brown leather would be ok, but both is definitely a future headache.....

It would be a no brainer if it had B&O, and even LED headlights or dynamic steering etc. would have tipped the balance.

If I could easily straight swap mine for it, I probably would. I think. Oh dear.

Very interesting to see on the D4 that individual electric rear seats no longer makes it a 4 seater, it is still clearly a 5 which is a nice improvement over the D2 / D3.

Interesting also the rear door armrest have similar cubbies in them to the front doors, but there's no mention in the brochure which options gave it this feature.

Personally I liked the look of Balao brown in the brochure, but having seen the pictures it looks like total brown overload! I'd want to change the lower dash or something at least, and was disappointing that it wasn't fully covered in cow!

B&O would be nice no doubt, but bear in mind that the early LED headlights are not as functional as the later matrix ones, i.e. non of the cornering lights you have found on yours recently. Dynamic steering is a mixed bad too, I tend to leave it in comfort on mine all the time!

Again agreed - but for a baby seat in the back I don't need recline or massage functions

In reality I suspect you could swap yours for that one if you wanted without much effort

Well, you say that..... The original owner of the donor D2 that the individual rear seats came from that are now retrofitted to my D2 (stay with me...) said he liked them simply because he could fit the child seat, then move the seat base out electrically, taking up any slack in the seatbelt very easily..... That always stuck with me a great example (excuse) of why we'd need electric rears lol.

I'm not sure you're helping me much with comments like that......

But I think you're right. The safe colour and lower miles on mine should comfortably offset the increased spec on that..... No evidence of what that's like mechanically though, and its a long way away.

Did my first real commuter run in mine yesterday. Birmingham and back. 41.5 mpg on adaptive all the way. Not bad at all. I've still not filled it up since buying it in Glasgow and I've been Glasgow -> Newcastle -> Harrogate -> Birmingham -> Middlesborough with a few little trips inbetween.... (!) fuel light just came on, circa 80 miles left. Staggeringly good. Cant' see why anyone would bother with the V6 Tdi...

Mines just getting to 5k miles now and I have seen over 40 on a run best being 43 but the overall average is 32.7 currently. The 3litre gave and overall always around 36-37. But this beasty is not even run in yet

My daily commute is 20 miles each way which is A-B roads and about 5 miles of motorway with the last bit through a small town. The warmer weather has a big impact on the MPG with the journey I do less miles with a cold engine so I think it will improve!

The difference in the power torque smoothness and noise make it well worth whatever its costing me in fuel
Amazing over-taking ability, I am constantly having to reign it back. Economy mode is good for getting her to slip into higher gears quickly, 8th at 50mph tick over revs, it just trundles alone. I love it

I use my iPhone for calls via Bluetooth so just wanted a data only package. As the IPhone does not support SIM Access profile. The problem is the car doesn't use that much data and the providers have a time limit of a month on them. I think this Giffgaff card which is using the 02 network works out around £5 for 1mb of data which seems to be about right for the google maps and so on. What I wanted to do was buy a card with 10mb on, which didn't have a time limit on it but they seems to have gone

By the way whilst we are talking D4's and extra's my D4 has this UV pane glass with the heated screen, which is great for those cold starts. But the major downside is it b*ggers up the mobile phone signal in the car and has also made my speed camera device redundant. The glass has a metallic element to it which cause's this. My car is not fitted with the cradle in the armrest for the phone to plug in so I can't tap into the built in gear.

Something I wouldn't look to have again frankly, but when buying second hand you don't have too many choices and frankly I wasn't aware of the effects of this. do get to listen to my music more though so there is an upside
Cheers Glyn

I think giffgaff is £5/month for 500MB on data only or 20p/day up to 20MB/day if using credit instead of goodybags.

Might be worth looking at IDmobile as well on which you can get 1GB for £5/month http://www.idmobile.co.uk/shop/plans/sim-only

... or throw away the iPhone and get something decent

The A7 forced me to move from Apple to Android for this same reason and I've never looked back.

Pair the phone to the car. Perfect phone calls, far better than any handfree Bluetooth, combined with wifi sharing out your data back to the phone and other devices so it can still get email etc, but with far better reception.

All on one mobile phone plan....

It really is perfect.
