Thanks Iyole,

I will leave the lamps as listed and let others make up their minds as to what will be the replacement source/size as each manufacturer uses different stock number codes.

I attach the list at version 2 (including the puddle lights and footwells).

Just been having a look at my (FL) indicators to see if I can reduce the "fried egg" look.

The front ones are 21W bayonet, but with the non-opposed pin type - I've no idea why. I think that's called a 581, which is 120-degree offset pins.

The rear ones are, surprisingly, clear (382's). The amber colour is in the lens which I didn't know. Not much you can do about that, other than going "US-style" as discussed in another thread.

Well I've replaced my front indicators with silvered bulbs and lost the fried-egg look; well-pleased with the result which I may have mentioned before and can be seen here.
And today I replaced my sidelights with LED's as mentioned here: http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showpost....5&postcount=61(which was probably in the wrong thread )
These are the offset pin bayonet type (434 or BAX9S). They are quite long and come almost to the end of the reflective well, so having only side-facing emitters works very well.
(Just waiting for some "upgrade" main-beam bulbs to arrive now.)
Pictures, firstly the sidelight alone, secondly with headlight on. Nice.

That's a much better colour on the sidelight for a xenon plus, better than any others I've seen I think. One of the reasons I upgraded my standard projector headlamps to xenons rather than xenon pluses was that I just think the sidelight is better/fuller on the xenons, fills the whole headlight area rather than just a little "egg cup" zone which looks more like marker lights. I think that you've found the right LED bulb though, would be good to see the before and after in darker conditions!

I thought the sidelight bulb looked "very slightly" bluer than the HID's in daylight but the cheap phone camera didn't pick that up.
But I've just been out again now it's almost dark and there really is no visible difference at all. Result.
As noted earlier I'm not bothered about the "fill" issue as I never drive on just sidelights, though these do have a wider field of visibility.

Can't be bothered to put the yellow filament bulb back in to compare, but here's the same sidelight after dark.
Note that the car is illuminated by a small (100W) linear halogen outside light at head height that is only about 2 metres away.

There's no flash, that's the reflection of the floodlight on the car! The LED is more than adequately bright....
Also, I've oriented the bulb so that the frontmost opposed pair of emitters are directed sideways, the rear ones face up and down.

They're as near to a perfect match as I'd ever expect to get.

I did take a picture to see if you could spot the difference in colour between sidelight and headlight at night. I couldn't, and this is dipped by the way.

fitted these tonight and they look nice and white and a good match for the Xenons, guess the key will be how long they last, previous attempts only lasted a few weeks before one or both of them packed in, not really sure why as even the very cheap ones seem to last a while in my son's car

Folks - I needed new rear number plate bulbs (LED ones), and bought these...

http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/272...8mm-white.html

....as I thought I needed the CAN bus ones. They don't work at all. Is there any way to tell if they're faulty, or should I have just bought the standard....

http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/272...d-colours.html

....ones instead?

Cheers

Rob
