Default Don't see many of these on the road...

I'm lucky enough to occasionally work right next to JD Classics, world renowned Jaguar restorers in Maldon, Essex (most famous for Maldon Sea Salt of course) and often get to see some very valuable metal being moved around. Jags, Ferraris, Le Mans and old F1 cars, you name it.

Followed this beautiful XJ220 for a few miles there this morning. What a noise! Could hear the turbos and exhaust bangs and cracks from 3 cars back.

Always loved the shape of the XJ220.

I think I remember seeing one or two on the road, back in the day, but I haven't seen one since (apart from at car shows that is -- saw a silver one at the Tatton Park classic car show last year).

A friend of mine did the illustrations for the owners handbook. He has a copy in his loft. It must have some value - they couldn't have made many copies.

Incidentally I was at the Birmingham Motor Show in 88 when these were launched. I recall it lookng massive and not that attractive. Time hasn't changed my opinion, they do nothing for me.

Jim Randle was head of the engineering school at Birmingham uni when I was there - top bloke

Seen a few of these over the years and always amazed by how much road space they take up for a relatively tiny interior space. Comparison with the F1 isn't particularly kind to the Jag, but at the time for an established car maker to come up with this sort of concept was pretty unusual
