Erm, late to the party sorry. The V6 doesn't have the round separator pod that the V8 does.

The V6 breather system has some fragile plastic pipes which join the two cam covers to the throttle body. The plastic breaks, often in several places, meaning there's no vacuum in the crank case hence why the V6 leaks oil like the Deepwater Horizon. There's a separator in the gubbins down by the throttle body boot IIRC, and a few more plastic pipes. Other than the main pipe on the top, the rest are a total arse to get to. The manifold has to come off really. The packaging on the V6 round there is pretty awful.

Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon, Auto-dim mirror, Leather, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

Two links you might want to check out. Neither relates directly to the 2.8 V6 in the Audi, but they are for a 2.8 V6 fitted in a Passat, so in theory, should be the same or very similar (but then we know that VAG never keep anything the same!). If nothing else, they will give you an idea of what you're looking for.

Thanks again guys. The pipes I could get to are all good and not cracked. Next job might be getting inlet mani off and see what's what.
