IIRc, its the bottom of the drivers B pillar. Pop off the cill covers front and rear, undo the two cross head screws holding the lower B pillar trim on and you should see the square looking single-multi plug connected square module under there beneath the seatbelt coil. They always seem to be covered in a plastic celophane cover which always baffled me.

10 min job....

Question Is 'right hand' the near side or off side?

The instructions that Adrian posted say "Remove right-hand B-pillar trim". Isn't that the passenger side? And, as the sensors are both on this side, wouldn't that make sense?

As to "a 10 minute job"

I've started hundreds of those and I can't recall one of them that was finished in 10 minutes!

Planned mods: auto-dimming rear view mirror, dash cam (as steamship's), fit the ski hatch, refit philips drl's (or maybe not - nope, definitely not - horrible botch!).

I agree. The instructions are confusing. The diagram and common sense dictate that its on the nearside along with the sonsors.

You know, they really ought to resort to standard naval definitions. Port and starboard. Then you cant get mixed up between near/offside and drivers/passenger side when talking about about cars which are produced for both LHD and RHD.

Yes, but it specifically states 'right hand'. I thought this convention was looking at the car from the front. But I'm not 100% certain

It's always as you sit in the car.

That easy to remember Port is Red and Stb'd is Green, so red side green side. Red to red go ahead. Thats cleared that lot up.

The key issue is that, unlike passenger side, nearside etc, its always the same the word over!

Thanks for clearing that up Dezzy! Thank christ you didnt mention that port used to be called Larboard.......

I think in Audi sense right and left in the service manual relate to the side when viewing facing the front of the car. Some stuff moves with drive side but for this id defo be opting for near side as first port (get it?!) of call based on sensor locations
