Yeh its changed owners twice in the last year or so, just weighing up whether to change the timing belt or not?
Audi seem to suggest every 105'000 miles, according to the service history the belt has only done around 40'000 miles since the last change but that was 11 years ago so im thinking it could do with changing....

Change it The belt doesn't tend to fail, but the hydraulic tensioner does. Use the INA kit - its oem parts without the rings, for £250. Also worth doing the water pump and thermostat (genuine for £120 ish).

If you're DIY-ing it, I have the locking tools for hire

I think it had problems with the head gasket from memory, so I guess the heads must have been off. If they were off, you'd hope the guy fitted a new belt at the same time.

i'd definitely pop the covers and take a look at the condition of the belt before assuming it needs doing....

7 years is the general max recommendation for the D2 timing belt.

Definitely won't be doing it myself My mechanical skills are limited to uncomplicated bulb changing!

Thanks for the advice though i think I will get it changed to be on the safe side.

Ive had a quote from a local VW/Audi specialist of £625 for the timing belt kit and waterpump supplied and fitted.

That's pretty cheap for £400 of parts and a day's work.
