Well, the car is back in my possession now and oh how I’ve missed it. When I saw the green beast yesterday it had been 7 months since I’d last driven it and 4 months since I’d last seen it. I was actually a little emotional but I don’t think anyone noticed

I struggle to articulate it well enough and it might seem odd to others, but the car is so ingrained with my family and kids that it felt so right to be reunited. The kids faces lit up when they saw it later that day

Mrs “Ricky D” and I went to collect it yesterday and the drive home was like heaven. The first phase of the drive home was done by the wife and when we stopped at the service station for a feed she was just smiling. “It’s like it was before....but better in every little way” she said. I didn’t get what she meant until later when I had a chance to drive her. Everything was perfect when I got my chance to drive her. Everything was familiar. Everything felt like it was supposed to feel; Improved responsiveness, no oil patches, brakes that actually worked, an exhaust that didn’t blow, and no EML! Words really do not capture the feeling, but the green beast has never driven so well...at least during my ownership! I smile when I look out the window

A huge thank you to MJ and Mike for making this happen. Between them a first for me has also been achieved; I’ve never kept an insurance write off in the past, but this will be my exception and I’m so grateful for it

Now it’s time to get this project moving again. I’m getting bored of the MMR’s so they will come off for a refurb once I find a suitable replacement set

And another thing I just remembered. MJ is too kind

She messaged me during phase one of the works after she noticed that the boot grommets I bought from her were installed completely the wrong way round

I told her I’m fair game to be embarrassed on the forum as they’re so easy to install but she refused I said to her you’re a better human being than I am as I’d be ripping the p1ss out of me if I was in your position

Also the intake pipe being the wrong way round just confirms all the bodging that I had done in my ownership

Thanks for correcting it all

Pretty much sums up the quality of work that MJ does when a 'significant other' (or anyone else 'allowed' to drive our cars) makes a comment like that. MJ continues to raise the bar on what is possible to achieve.
