Should be in the vicinity of the Brackenrigg for 'teatimeish' subject to the vagaries of bank holiday traffic.

Well I'm expecting to be in that area a year late!

Will anyone be around there the weekend BEFORE the late May holiday this year? Friday to Tuesday.

We're having a family get-together and hiring a big house (sleeps 8 but there will be 7 of us, all adults) from 17th to 21st May. It's at the farm about 800 yards up the lane beside Brackenrigg Inn!

We will have an S8 an S4 and a Batmobile (SLK350) between us.

More to the point, as we'll probably end up eating at Brackenrigg a few times, does anyone have any comments on the evening food?

Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)

In my opinion the food was average. The steak was poor. There is a much better restaurant about 4 miles up the road Called the Ullswater View. Food and ambiance there were good. HtH.

The main problem was a large party of people with big noisy cars who sat around talking car b@ll@x all night - sometimes in german

Food was just average pub grub - nothing special. But some nice ales.

Now you're talking!

Thanks for the feedback.

Just planning ahead and will probably book a table for the evening we arrive just to make life easy.
Everyone likes good beer (or ale as the youngsters now call it) - we "brung em up proper!".
And the meat-eaters will happily send a steak back if it's not good enough.

I thought "ale" was old english with beer being the foreign (german / french) word? and i am not that young...

I was in a pub in Edinburgh the other day and the young person behind the bar told me that didnt have "cask ales" but they had beer - in which (she) included (by a wave of her hand) some fine cask beers/ales as well as American pish and lager.
Anyway, enough talking, I'm off to get an ale....
