Another reason to think about getting VCDS then. Maybe later in the year of I'm a bit more flush.

Car is still fine no more recurrence of the battery issue, but the annoying clicky flap motor is back again. Last time I fixed it for several months, but that same fix has not worked this time.

At some point I need to bite the bullet and replace that stuck flap motor in the engine bay, then I should be able to successfully complete the basic settings with all the motors and have them learn their new values.

Did it again today, but no VCDS this time. I have a theory the issue revolves around the boot. Yesterday I was in and out of the boot several times in the evening, so I've opened and closed it this evening. Battery is currently sitting at 70% so I'll see later if its dropped down.

I am now reasonably sure its the boot causing the problem, not sure though if its because the light is not going out or because the latching mechanism is perhaps having issues. I did notice the other day that even though the boot was closed and could not be opened, I pushed down and there was a click from a latch or something. One thing is certain, it is sufficient in current draw to reduce the battery to low levels over just a few hours.

Sounds like you might be on to a winner, try getting inside and have someone shut you in, I've been in there before, even closed its quite roomy

Lol. Del, are you suggesting this for fun, or as part of an actual solution to the problem?

As part of a solution to the problem, one place where you can quickly determine if the sat nav drive goes to sleep like it should, the boot lights go off and it will also be quiet enough to possibly hear the latch motor or boot motor straining to close something.

Could take it a step further and measure loads from each motor while in there to see what's happening

One thing I have wondered, my electric boot is currently missing the little spring on the latching mechanism and as a result does not close properly electrically. Maybe one day I'll get around to removing the trim and try to fix it/replace it.
