I even had a satan-fuelled 2L autocratic Rover 75 tourer (estate) a few years ago; company car all-expenses-paid "runabout".
(alongside the S8; in fact I was having a "day out" in the Rover when my S8 was nicked off my drive )

OK I had it "chipped" by Van Aaken (who remembers them?) so it was running about 180bhp and god-only-knows what torque.
It was always amusing to be sitting alongside Dell-boys in 3-series whatevers at the lights and leave them for dust!
The auto box with the remap was startling, and amazingly MORE fuel-efficient.

I remember them! Although I should really, as my office was directly above their workshop in Crowthorne.....

Owner had all sorts of nice classic Lancias incl an 8:32 Thema and some much older stuff in various states of disrepair Had a ridiculous yank truck as well that'd leave black lines whenever it left the car park.

Gather they went bust a few years ago? Can't say I'm surprised as always had more staff playing with toys than actual paying customers....

Ranj picked me up in his D2 A8 sport earlier, and it felt a million dollars. The seats are so much more comfortable and supportive then the C5. I just can't get comfortable in the C5, it feels horribly cheap coming from the D2, today just cemented what I already felt. Need to decide over the next few weeks, what to do. C5 vs D2, there really isn't a contest. There is not a single way in which the C5 excels over the D2 bar speed.

A. Buy the warranty for the RS6 and keep it.
B. Flog it, and buy a D3 S8 complete with milltek - not as fast but better in every other way.

The RS 6 did get some recognition by three school boys today, they heard it, one told the other they all looked amazed and stopped and stared so I booted it, made their day. Made mine, no one else ever notices it. They reminded me of me when I was there age and I saw a B5 or C5 RS, my mate who was with me at the time said they probably recognised it from Forza or something.

As much as I love James's car, I'm not looking for another D2, may aswel be a D3 or wait a year or so for the C6 RS 6 prices to fall to £25k, 700+ BHP, luvlay jubly.

I'm sure we could find somewhere Darren, it will be interesting to see. I have to warn you though my plus hits 60 in 4.4 seconds dead and as it is a plus is delimited from factory to 175 mph (not that I would in this country) sounds like thunder, it really is evil, if I keep it for inters, it will be pushing 540ish BHP, no cats and a remap, 0-60 will be 3.8/9 and 1/4 mile in the early 12s. I know two C5 RS6 owners that hit 200+ mph with that spec, one of them hit a GPS verified 204 MPH.

This is *exactly* how I felt. The RS6 on its own is a brilliant car, that many people would kill to own. But, it is still essentially just an A6 with some sporty bits, so the climate is pants, the DIS looks dated, theres no memory seats, no standard twin pane, no real ride comfort and a constant fear that an expensive part will need renewing. If youve had an A8 all these things bug you whenever you're in it.

You've lived your childhood dream now, so move it on, and get a spankingly nice specced D3 S8 - You know you want to
