Default Audi S8 D2 Running Manual, But Still Coded For Tip...

Hello guys!

Just a quick query here. If an S8 D2 has a manual transmission installed, and the ECU isn't coded for manual (so it doesn't look for the absent TCU) what problems are encountered? Will the engine RPM and torque be limited?

Thanks in advance.

I think it just gives you loads of errors but works. See if you can hunt down some of Tozo's threads on quattroworld, he went through that process.

^^^ Yes, I'm aware the ECU would be annoyed. Just wondered if the engine RPM will be limited. This is a pre-facelift S8, AHC motor code.

From memory, there were no other issues with it, just the errors about (or possiby from) the TCU.

^^^ I've PM'd Tozo.

I'm not sure if he's done a manual conversion on the earlier 32V motors. Looking through his posts, I can only find his black S8 40V, as well as a couple of other A8's, also 40V.

Is there a knack to using Quattroworld? I can't seem to be able to view complete threads, it just appears to be single replies.

^^^ Thanks bud.

Terrible layout though, it took me forever just to find the registration area, and in the end, such a pain to use, I gave up. I'll simply carry on with my project regardless.

Do you just want to know out of curiosity or what? Otherwise just change a coding and you are fine.

I want to know due to the car having limited revs, it won't hit the normal 7,000 rpm. More like 6,200. I just wondered if it was due to coding, or if there's something else wrong.

It's a 1998 AHC.
