Default Front lower bumper, grey plastic renovation.

As mentioned briefly here: http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showpost....7&postcount=19 my front bumper has some scrapes on the lower plastic section (see photo).
It's not really visible normally but I'd like to tidy it up if possible, what do the experts here recommend?
(And yes I know some of the painted section is also in need of attention. )

I had a similar issue a few years back and removed the bumper and separated the lower section. I then used wet and dry going down through the grades before using the DA polisher to get as good a finish as possible. I managed to get rid of all but the deeper scratches. However despite getting as smooth as finish as possible on the damaged areas it didnt seem to match the rest of skirt. The reason was i hadnt realised that the skirt is painted (thanks, MJ). So, as yet, i havent got around to getting it painted.

Aha! Critical bit of information that. Makes a lot of difference. Though I'm still not sure what to do.......

I had some similar but lesser scratches on my Volvo and they rubbed away to a "sufficient" standard relatively easily, but that grey plastic is almost certainly not painted.

Yeah the lowers are black plastic that is then painted a sort of satin black. They do separate from the coloured portion so could be taken to a body shop to be smoothed and painted, although its quite a difficult finish to replicate well. Tradition still have new ones for about £400, but getting them here is pretty much impossible.

Marcel's suggestion of a good used one would be the simplest solution, but good used ones are almost as hard to come by as new ones.

Thanks MJ. I'm going to see if I can find a suitable paint first.
