Default Keyless

My keyless has been odd since we got the car. 3 handles you have to lift twice to unlock but passenger one you only have to cup hand under the handle to open. 3 lock buttons work ( the passenger one doesnt work and doesnt click ).

I could live with that but the last week keyless hasnt been working ( lock or unlock ) from drivers side. Keyless start always works as does boot but handle feels very clicky.

4 new painted handles would be very expensive

Start with a VCDS scan, see what fault codes are logged and go from there

They are, but often that is what is needed. I replaced all four on my D4 in the last 12 months, luckily they have improved the design so the sensor is separate to the painted handle - hence much cheaper to replace.

Its strange that passenger door lock button has never worked but does show as a fault. I guess 2 front door handles needed.

Where is the best place to get them ? Brand new as o guess all used are faulty as its a common fault ? Can they be fitted and sprayed by a mobile man ?

I have the same sort of problem. My rear doors unlock when you put your hand near them, but the fronts need a double pull to unlock.

The other day I went to replace the door last co mechanism due to the soft close not working on the drivers door. While stripping it down, I noticed a wire that goes to the plug on the handle was broken.

The angle the wiring goes upto the plug combined with the way the handle moved up and down meant the wire kinked and snapped (along with possibly some water ingress).

I joined it together again and insulated all the wires so it won't happen again.

It is a door apart job but you can keep the upper frame bolted on.
