Default Headlights change

Hi all,
I own a A8 D3 4.2 TDI and my headlights are quite weak.
I was thinking of changing them to LED ones.
Any comments or hints?
Thanks

I've pondered LED lamps now they seem quite reliable and not to emit so much heat etc, and it's dark most of the time. Has anyone had success with them on the D3?

I would want go led.
You won't get the same light.

If you got xenons and it's dull you git 3 factors mainly.
Bulb, lens and reflector.

Bulbs age and lose their illumination over time, so a decent set of genuine bulbs is a good place to start as well as s lens polish

If still poop, then you can look at reflector refresh it refresh the whole lot with a morimoto D2s unit.
I'm going to do Mine at the end of the summer.

Over time the HID bulbs slowly consume their electrodes. They self adjust for this but can only go so far. I'm guessing a new pair of genuine (not knock offs) will go a long way to restore them. Failing that, explore the alternatives Scott came up with.
Mine are no where near as bright as when I bought it over 6 years and 60k miles ago. I'm getting new bulbs

I had to restore the lights in the A4 because the reflector in the projector was scorched from the heat off the halogen. So the A4 now has a full conversion, side, dipped, main, fog, indicators) to LED (few pics below). The dipped beam LED's are quoted at 9000 lumens pair. Their actual output is better than halogen but below a good set of OEM Xenon's.

I have thought about retro fitting the D3 but the bulb monitoring of the central electronics module would be throwing all sorts of warnings - of which is an MOT failure - this brings me back to a project I have sitting in waiting. Also, the LED aftermarket tech isn't up to the standard to be better then OEM Xenons yet. So as others have said, get a new set of Xenons.

If you want headlight work, drop me a PM.

We can rechrome the reflectors, supply Philips and Osram bulbs (genuine), uprate the reflectors to Morimoto and supply LEDs (not for main beam).

Morimoto units don't affect the bulb warning system as we use standard ballasts.
We are working on a set of Morimoto lights that work with the AFS system.
Due to the housing and motors of the AFS system, its pretty tight in there to fit any uprated bits but we are getting there.

We are also working on new LED bulbs the front and rear lights, along with a couple of little extras for both lights.
