Default Can't Get In Car

Anyone help. Gone out to car this morning and it looks as if all electrics are dead. Doors won't unlock from handles or from fob. Power boot won't unlock.

red alarm lights not flashing on doors...nothing. Don't have my handbook and can't work out how to get into the bloody thing.

TIA

Age? Model?

Normally there is a manual lock under the drivers handle if you lift up or slide off the handle cover on a lot of 8's, at least that gets you in.

'Discovered' the key hole on the drivers door and one of the keys has opened it (other wouldn't), this is now stuck in the ignition and won't come out!!

Boot opened with other key....time for a jump start i guess.....

Got the ignition key out through a combination of pressing what looked like a reset button next to the ignition lock with a biro, turning the key any which way with increasing frustration....and swearing!!

Into the loft now for jump leads

Now why would you keep your jump leads in the loft?

I keep a pair in the spare wheel well as an automatic car WILL need them sooner or later

Jump leads located (a friends very expensive heavy duty ones) and car is now running... so can head home. God knows what happened to run the battery completely flat overnight. I used the car yesterday lunchtime.

I'm thinking I might change the battery, I've had problems with the date and time resetting almost since I got the car which I read somewhere can be battery related. I gather I might need to get it recoded or something as part of the process so I'll need to look that up.

Booked to have four bloody tyres fitted today as well

What year is the car?

A D2 doesn't need the battery recoded.. and a D3 needs to be jump started using special points or you can fry stuff.

Hi thanks for the replies. Its a D3 facelift 2005.

I got the car running from jump leads which got me home. I've been to a local Halfords and bought a replacement battery which I fitted about an hour ago. I gather I need to code the battery through software but haven't done that (yet) as I don't have the software. Car fired up okay. The dash was indicating bulb out for both rear lights, but both are (were) working. This has been an intermittant problem for the last week or so although only on the passenger side before today ....maybe why the battery drained down?

I keep mine in the boot of my 1968 Rover P5B.... looks like I'll have to sell a car or buy some more (or maybe put one lead in each )
