That great, thanks. I will have another go in the morning.

Does it ask you to take the wheels off to create space for the liner to be moved? Is there not enough space if I set the suspension into the Lift mode?

I have only just had the chance to look at this. The link shows the removal instructions in the bumper section - I have removed the cover, cleaned the undamaged dome and I still have the blocked sensor message. My next course of action is wheel alignment with ACC alignment - lets hope that this is all it needs.

Well, having just has my car serviced I can report that York Audi fancied playing with the ACC after I asked them whether they had the equipment to re-align and set up and quote dme for the work. It went in for its service, and I returned to find that 4 hours later it was still not ready. I went off to have my 'free' coffee (by free I mean that the extra hundred quid for the service over a local company has to get me something, and coffee was one of the things...)

Time passed and I went back to ask how things were going as we were now past closing time for the service dept. They said that the Master Technician had looked at the ACC and had found a way to re-align and re-program the settings after having a good look at it (My first stomach wrenching thought was that I only asked for quote, but I left them to it).

They took it out for a 'test' drive and now I have ACC for the first time since I bought the car. What a system, it's well worth having - if not a little disconcerting at times . My experience of this was on the way back home part Whitwell where there is a fairly steep hill with a blind LH bend at the top that in the dark and rain, the car was dropping a gear and accellerating towards the blind corner by itself without me choosing. Knowing the road, this is fine, but the first time it does this is a little, should I brake or trust it????

When the bill came, they had sorted out as part of the service, so I went away very happy. (I think secretly they wanted to play with the car and pop out for a spin in it)

Thanks York Audi.

Thanks York Audi.
Good result. I've always found York Audi to be very helpful, friendly and sensible when it comes to the bill. Glad to hear you're now enjoying the benefits of ACC...

This S8 is the first D3 I've had without it, but so far so good as the V10 doesnt really encourage much hanging around at 'cruising' speeds..

I don't really use the ACC on windy roads as you'll still need to brake for the corners as it doesn't understand that keeping on going at 60 round a hairpin won't come out well

Though it's great on a long motorway run
