Cleaning contact with rubber on door cards
Hello guys,
My 2002 A8 has light grey color leather door cards that are contaminated at the line of contact with rubber "gasket" arond the door. I bought the car with this contamination problem and now i'd i'm trying to clean it. I tired leather cleaning stuff from Autoglum, but it doesn't work. Any suggestion how to clean those contact lines??? See the picture below. I'm talking about dirty line that goes from the upper right corner of the picture. |

I have found Autoglym engine and machine cleaner to work wonders on these things. But you could also try Megs APC or G101. It will come of very easily with AG Engine and machine cleaner though.

I have got my self some of this stuff, seems to shift anything!
My only concern is i gave the B post trim a squirt (where the rubber seal in the above picture mates against) and it made the plastic finish go a bit weird - althought it also shifted all the ingrained dirt that i havent managed to remove yet. is this stuff OK to use on the kinda rubberised plastic found inside our cars?

I would use an interior shampoo type cleaner, or dilute that stuff 50/50 before using it inside the car.
If you have residue, you need to rinse the cleaner off really well - maybe use a rubber trim dressing on afterwards? I've used this product for many years now, and it really is an ace product! Non acidic, and doesn't sem to attack plastic or rubber - great for the alloys ETA - Try a regular polish on your B post trim to restore the shine on the black.
