Lovely looking car, I'm sure you won't regret it. Much more character than a Diesel D3.

Thanks chaps, I'm super pleased with it. The car is just so cool! I've had some nice cars but this gets a lot of attention, is it normal people keep coming up in supermarket car parks and petrol stations wanting to talk about it?!

It was a bit of a fluke I got it really. I was idly browsing old for sale ads on here and noticed this was offered up a year ago by Tom (Tomson) on here. I sent him a message, unbelievably he hadn't managed to sell it last year but wasn't bothered as he clearly loved the car. But a new Mercedes AMG C63 (I think?) was about to be inherited. And the deal was done.

118k, gearbox and torque converter refurbed by Driver Transmissions at 112.5k, cambelt done at 107.5k. New F125 switch and a wonderful Milltek exhaust. History isn't complete but Tom has spent a bomb on it. And there is that interior. I never thought I could take to the red leather until I saw it with the black. Plus I've never had a car deliver so many smiles for the miles. I love it. The seats are just the best seats i've ever driven in, including my 2015 Jag XF Black Edition.

So, some things to do. MJ will be casting her expert eye over it later in the year (MJ has been brilliant in advising me on these, thank you MJ) and this week it's going in as the windscreen and headlamp washers have stopped working. Plus the sat nav thinks I live just outside Banbury, not the Isle of Wight!

I've been digging out some of the codes. The original paint colour is not printed on the build sticker but was handwritten in as 'LC5R' which as far as I can see is Marlin Blue?? It looks Avus to me, not sure if it's had a change. Interior colour is printed as N5D/WK, not sure on that. First registered 23/09/02, well within FE territory but isn't one, but first owner was Preston Audi so I'm guessing it was a demonstrator? Plus the codes suggest heated windscreen but there doesn't seem to be a button for it?

A truly awesome car, proper old school cool! I'm so glad I came here and bought something COMPLETELY different!

I've not had much of that with mine yet but probably don't drive it enough and in the right places! I've had people giving it a good look whilst at a filling station.

There's no specific button for this, the front window demist button is the one, if the outside temp falls below 5c then the yellow light flashes to indicate the heating is active.

Ooh, thanks Pete. Think the really cold stuff has gone now from the 'sunny' Isle of Wight so I'll let you know next winter if it works!

Managed to get a service history certificate, it was last into them in 2006 but they have it as Avus silver. Guessing whoever hand wrote the paint code onto the build sticker just got it wrong!

If you check behind the right hand trim panel in the boot, you should see something like this. (Ignore the red cable to the extreme left)

Well, it looks like I have a heated windscreen after all! And an amp! The car came with a sublime sub, bass is amazing not my kinda thing really and eats up a chunk of the boot but the noise is fab with the Milltek throbbing alongside it!

Because, there are a handful of truly unique, rarer than final edition cars out there that you just see pop up from time to time. So rare, and so unique they simply can't be anything other than the one and the same.

And this, is one of those, right down to its heated windscreen.....

The white pearl that A8parts owns, the swb w12 d3 with B&O, the 3 D2's in the UK that had electric rear seats, Craigs D2 with the factory leather dashboard, that 06 plate D2 long wheel base, the lwb D2 with fridge

Olis D3 4.2 Tdi - That was pretty special. B&O, ACC, Sunroof, Fridge, and one of the insanely rare 4.2 TDis pre march 2006 so gets cheap tax disc.

But, back to the point......

.... I aint ever seen another car with factory red leather interior, that didn't have platinum carpets, in the UK.....

The Daily Town Car - 2023 Tesla Model Y Performance. Black with Black. Giant ipad screen, huge sunroof, 4 wheel drive, Tow bar, lots of ooomph and made in China, so actually built properly unlike the Californian ones.

The Family Wagon - 2018 Tesla Model X. Black, 7 Seats, Towbar, Homelink, Enhanced Auto pilot with Summon and self park, Heated front seats, CCS Charger upgrade, MCU2 Upgrade, Falconwing Doors, Self opening / closing doors, Netflix, Spotify, toys, Air suspension, alcantara roof + lots of other stuff......

The 17 year old Driver Wagon 2015 Skoda Citigo Monte Carlo. Alloys, Power steering, Aircon, Leccy windows, Sat Nav, bluetooth, central locking, cup holders, 59 whole bhp. Million times better than my first car. Well jealous.....

I'd love to see one of them! Are they still around? Plus I never knew the 4.2TDI was available pre March 2006?? Thanks for the info
