Well I figured since the printer was fubar I had nothing to lose by trying Klipper. Unbelievably it actually made the stuttering worse It can't even print 50mm circles properly now.

I need to try and find the original CR-10S firmware and put that back on.

If it ain't broke, it ain't got enough features yet

Also, Octoprint sounds like a good idea but isn't, at least not with our printers.

Well riddle me this: the Octoprint developer claims that the stuttering on circles is because the USB interface is too slow. In that case, how can Cura print perfectly via USB??

I've put Marlin 1.1.7 back on using the original Creality firmware and surprise surprise its printing circles again.

I get the feeling that most of these developers only sample one machine.
They probably think that soak testing is printing a couple of items on one physical printer.
I believe that proper testing can only be done using several different printers of each model. Of course this is expensive because for example in our case we would need three or four CR10s in the same environment to prove whatever project we are playing with.

Sorry, I am being a pedantic pessimist again.

And I have no idea what any of that load of W£$"£% means.

Bah! Its not sorted. The firmware I found was not the actual Creality firmware, but something reverse-engineered by someone to what they think it should be As such, it prints, but is missing fairly important features like load and unload filament The only official Creality firmware I can find is 1.1.8 which runs like crap.

Ray, Andy - how comfortable are you guys with running command line stuff to extract the firmware from your printer? I've found a utility to do it and tried it on mine. It will extract the actual Creality firmware which works (1.1.6 or 1.1.7 not sure) to a file so I can re-flash it on to mine.

Hi MJ,
I'm overnighting in Chepstow, meeting tomorrow but will be late home.
Blackpool Thursday and working Friday PM.
I've forwarded your request to son Craig and with luck we might be able to sort something over the weekend.
After weeks of virtually nothing suddenly rushed off our feet.
