Great Jim, finally I can order US lenses because I have bulbs.

I'll take 4 bulbs please if it is not too late.

P.S. is there any chance to find or custom order 21W green bulbs for daily driving and not just for mot?

Any photos illuminated? I'm interested, can't find any green tinted bulbs here in the States and I want amber output to match the Euro look.

I'm hoping the 21W bulbs will be OK for daily use. It was the 10W bulbs that I used for the MOT but I thought that these were too dim for daily use.

I took a guess on 4 bulbs for Oli.

Total cost with bulbs, shipping and insurance is £42.74, or £2.67 per bulb. Let me know if you want them shipping to you as soon as I get them, or if you'll wait for the next meet.

No problem.

Please send me a postal address (and full name) on a PM if you'd like them posting.

I used a search method to find these that I've not used before (you probably all know this already! ). After no joy with finding the bulbs on a 'normal' search, I clicked on the bing.com/images, found what looked like the right product and, bingo, eventaully found a european site that had them.

I'm intrigued by this and the colour effects. Has anyone tried an orange (or yellow as in fog light) bulb behind the US-style red tinted (vs EU red-looking) rear indicators?

In theory yellow is produced (well, perceived by the human brain) in the additive colour spectrum by combining red and green. That's how computer screens and TV's for example work.

BUT there's some filtering/subtraction going on here too. In theory a red-tinted lens cuts out other colours (to a greater or lesser extent), it certainly ought to heavily restrict blue and green at the other end of the visible spectrum, but less so yellow and orange.

So, depending on exactly what the filtered spectrum is from the colourants used I would actually expect an orange bulb to shine pretty much as intended through a red US rear, and probably much brighter than a green one.....

I recall a long thread on this a little while ago and, although I don't really understand the physics, the conclusion was that the green should work. Certainly the orange or amber bulbs do not.

When I tried the 10W bulb in my rear indicators (not US versions, I undertand, but some 'home brew' tint that James applied before I had the car) they did show more of an orange/amber light than the amber bulbs, and the MOT folk were happy. But, as I said, they were pretty dim.

Just had a text to say the 21W bulbs have been despatched, so we'll soon know!
